Did I get a reject or what? (2010-02-20) : 2/5
I adore these little Na'vi action figures and own a bunch of them, but Neytiri is unfortunately my least favorite. Either I received a deformed unit, or Mattel decided to put all of their efforts into the other figures and put Neytiri together as an afterthought.br /br /Her arms are bizarrely bulbous, as is her head. In fact, the piece that forms her hair doesn't properly match up with her face. One of her feet is twisted inward, which makes it nigh impossible to stand her up, and though she has a neck joint, you can't turn her head because her hair and feather necklace get in the way. Her bow and arrow are the flimsiest of all the Na'vi figures' weapons.br /br /And finally: she looks nothing like Neytiri. She looks vaguely female and vaguely disgruntled, but that's about it.br /br /If you have to have Neytiri for your collection, get this. But if you're just hoping for one nice little action figure, I'd suggest checking out Jake, Norm, Tsu'Tey, or pretty much anyone else.
Excellent Avatar 3 D Neytiri Action Figure (2010-02-20) : 5/5
Excellent job by Mattel in recreating the Neytiri character from the Avatar Movie. While she is very hard to find, she is well worth the search. The highly articulated action figure is a great addition to the Avatar collection. Her movements in the movie where closely assimilated into the movement of the action figure. The 3 D web cam itag makes this a fun item for the Adults and kids in our family. We had never purchased this type of item before and did not know if the quality of the recreated scenes would match the world of Pandora from the movie. IT DOES MATCH THAT WORLD and we are very happy that we bought it!
One Significant Detail Is Wrong (2010-02-09) : 3/5
Maybe only an archer would notice this, but the left hand is articulated to draw the bowcord with the palm in, as human archers do - but the Na'vi all drew their bows with the palm out.
Good, but no bio-lume (2010-01-30) : 4/5
My son loves this toy, but it advertised that it was glow in the dark, and it isn't. Apparently those are coming out later but the packaging didn't bother to explain that.
Cute, but I expected more. (2009-12-24) : 2/5
Why I am qualified to speak: I have been collecting action figures since the first Star Wars figures back in the 1970s. I have thousands of 1:18 action figures (literally THOUSANDS).br /br /I Paid $[...] for this figure (movie pre-release sale [...]) and feel that it is about $2 over-priced. I see that they are now $[...] to $[...] at various stores and that price is way over the value mark. Pick this up at $5 or less when they go on clearance (I can't imagine people will buy tons of these at $10 a pop).br /br /It appears that this character is released in the same quantities as all of the other characters and is not short packed, ALTHOUGH, some stores received different types of cases with different contents. I saw a freshly stocked endcap at Wal-mart and all characters had at least 4 representatives. Neytiri had 6, Na'vi Jake had more than 10.br /br /The good:br /-Pretty 2-tone paint scheme. You can't tell it is Neytiri, but you can tell it is Na'vi and female.br /-The arms are jointed at the elbows. As thin as the arms are, it is nice to see them get elbow joints instead of the stiff, one-piece arms many female characters get (Uhura).br /-The loin cloth has the loop for the tail (Cute detail).br /-This figure will stand out in any 1:18 collection and is the best of the Na'vi bunch.br /br /The bad:br /br /SCALE: br /-I wish all the various companies would settle on a standard 1:18 scale for their figures and then honor that scale with acute attention to detail. This figure stands almost eye to eye with GI Joe Heavy Duty (just a bit taller). And the Na'vi characters are not nearly tall enough to be on scale with the AVATAR human figures, either. She is tall but not tall enough.br /br /-The figure's head and face are too small for the body (tiny, human eyes).br /br /-The figure has cankles... necessary (maybe) for articulation, but they ruin the shape and flow of the leg.br /br /ARTICULATIONbr /- GI Joe and Star Wars (Hasbro) have mastered articulation so it confounds me why everyone else keeps putting out lesser joint attempts. Neytiri has all of the major joints, but they are fragile and cheap. I don't think there is any metal anywhere in the figure so I wouldn't put money on the joints not wearing out.br /br /-The tail is not articulated and is stuck out to the side.br /br /ACCESSORIESbr /br /- The bow and arrow are cast as one piece and are always in the drawn position. Unfortunately, there are no other accessories.br /- The base doubles as an I-cam ID 3D thing that doesn't interest me (requires an app install which I won't contaminate my PC with).br /br /CONCLUSION:br /br /I like this figure and I'll keep it as a curiosity but I am not interested in getting the rest of the series due to the low production quality, low detail, and inaccurate scale (not to mention the ridiculous price). There is no way I would let my children play with this due to the joint frailness.br /
