Gear up with the good guys and fire either of two missiles from this mighty leaderâs firing cannons in robot mode. Or convert to tough truck mode turn the smokestack into cannons! Nice Prime (2010-06-03) : 5/5
$20 for this transformer isn't bad, and Optimus Prime really delivers. This particular toy is great for a first transformer because the transformation is fairly easy.(Even though the directions can be confusing at times.) Even though the robot mode isn't movie completely accurate, it still looks awesome. My friends (even the older ones) thought this was a cool transformer too. The durability is only 4 stars because his arm guards fell off a few times. No problem though; they snap back on. Prime's smoke stacks convert to twin blasters that shoot plastic missiles. Robot mode is pretty cool. As with most transformers, his eyes glow when a light source is behind them. Truck mode is ok, but he doesn't roll very well because his arms are tucked under him and tend to drag. I like this toy alot. It makes a great gift too.
Fun as a truck (2010-04-19) : 3/5
In the truck formation this is a really cool toy. Problem is...getting it from the figurine into the truck formation is a real pain in the butt.
Horrible poor quality. Terrible!! falls apart in your hand (2010-04-07) : 1/5
We have had a few issues with pieces popping off of other Transformers in the past, but none come close to this Optimus Prime. While sitting in my hand, the doors fell off. Nearly every piece that can come off falls off. Awful awful quality, did I mention that? Don't even get me started on the pieces falling off while you are trying to transform it into a robot. (Not just popping off, but falling off) I noticed some other people had mentioned the same thing when I was thinking about purchasing it, but my son really wanted an Optimus Prime and this one seemed perfect. It has been a great source of grief in the 24 hours it has been in our house.br /If you are looking for an Optimus Prime to sit in a glass case as a truck, then this may be OK for you, just don't touch it.
What a horrilbe waste of plastic (2010-03-23) : 1/5
My 6 year old got this Transformer for his birthday. Needless to say he was thrilled about the robot (weapons and all).br /I did the first transformation from the robot to the truck wondering why there wasn't an instruction manual of sorts to show what goes where. During transformation pieces broke of REALLY easily. The plastic is cheap and the design fairly complicated. Pieces do snap on again, but this is still very annoying!br /br /After the truck was assembled I took a second look at the box and found the instructions were hidden in the base (nowhere on the box does it say that!!!!). This probably explains the reviews of adults needing 3 hours to assemble the robot ;)br /br /Anyway, even following the manual, pieces still snapped off VERY EASILY. I'm not a big Transformer fan to begin with, but this toy is horrible, especially for children under 8! The rating of 5years + is a bad joke at best! If you're not a Transformer collector/fanboy, but just looking for a nice toy for your kid to play with, I'd suggest you buy a robot OR a truck. This thing is way more trouble than it's worth.br /br /
Good gift (2010-02-05) : 5/5
Great toy...gave it to an adult who is a "Transformer" fan, and he loved it!!
